Our tour begins with the Medieval Louvre; you will discover that the history of the Louvre begins around 1190 when Philip Augustus decides to build a fortification to protect Paris before leaving for the Crusades. The Louvre is then born as a fortress of protection. The urbanization that takes place around the castle causes it to lose its defensive character and the Louvre will be transformed into a royal residence. It was only in 1793 that it was transformed into a museum.
Your licensed guide will show you the most famous masterpieces such as: The great Sphinx of Tanis, the Venus of Milo, the Victory of Samothrace, Leonardo da Vinci masterpieces such as Monalisa and Santa Ana, the weeding feast of Cana by Veronese, the Coronation of Napoleon I in the Cathedral of Notre-Dame de Paris, and others.
