Castle of Chantilly: a castle and a rich museum
Joy us on this guided tour to Chantilly Castle, built on a cliff surrounded by water between the 14th and 19th centuries by the families of Orgemont, Montmorency, Bourbon-Condé and Orleans.
The castle was the residence of illustrious characters of the history of France and has undergone numerous transformations throughout the centuries. His last inhabitant, the Duke of Aumale, son of King Louis Philippe, created the Condé museum to house its rich collection of paintings, furniture, books, manuscripts and art objects.
In our itinerary of visit you will know the dependences of the castle, the apartments of its illustrious residents, the Condé Museum and the beautiful park, unique testimony of the history of the gardens of the West.
Together we will stroll through the gardens. The large French basins and fountains connect to the Anglo-Chinese garden. The English garden and the "Hameau" (rural countryside) also make up the beautiful park.
Your expert guide will also take you to see the great stables that today form the Living Horse Museum. The stables house 30 show horses and offer equestrian art presentations. The rooms that make up the Museum of the Horse are composed of objects that approaches the equestrian theme since ancient times.
Why not take advantage to taste the typical Chantilly cream in the restaurants of the castle! I will explain about the history of this important ingredient of French cuisine, whose invention dates back to 1671 in the kitchens of Chantilly Castle.
